THE DIE IS BROADCAST

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME.

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me. It's my birthday this month and already I have narrowed down the 'present' contenders to three. My good lady usually treats me to something at this time of year. Like most of our spouse's, she has no idea what to buy nor does she even want to know what to buy when it comes to wargaming or board gaming. So I usually give her the nod and she comes up with the goods.

So what to get? Their are a number of items on my gaming radar at the minute. Firstly "No Retreat -The Russian Front". I have watch Macro Arnaudo's (aka Marcogamer) excellent video review and have been temped, very temped indeed. This is the award winning GMT deluxe version of the older Victory Point game. Its a two player card driven, hex and counter wargame with as the title suggests, a World War 2 theme. I heard an interview with the designer on a podcast recently and liked what I heard. So I may pull the trigger and buy. Marco's review can be found at the link below.

Competing with No Retreat for my gaming pound is "Field Commander Napoleon". Once again my interest was aroused by the always excellent review by Marco. See the link below.

Field Commander Napoleon is also an award winning game. It is a solitaire, area control, campaign wargame. The solitaire element of this game has temped me, as like most wargames their are times when it can be difficult to get a game organised against someone. This may allow me to do a bit of solo wargaming and get the much need fix.

Finally another item tickling my fancy is the card game "The Resistance".  The Resistance is a party card game involving bluffing, deduction, negotiation and above all paranoia. It is designed for five to ten players, lasts about 30 minutes, and has no player elimination. The Resistance is inspired by the well known Mafia/Werewolf card game. This one would work well at the end of The Loaded Dice club night.

So decisions, decision. What to get.

Sorry Dec I am on maternity pay for next 8 months - so snakes and ladders is about my budget at present, there's always next year...........................

It would be "No Retreat" for me. It's hot on my to-buy list and I've heard nothing but good stuff so far.

Happy Birthday btw!

Cheers
