OK readers, I need your help in a small endeavour. Some may say a mission impossible but I am ever an optimist. What has a guy gotta do to get a few ladies to come along to a game club? It has occurred to me on a number of occasions why no girlie's. Why no females of the species? What apart from sweaty, geeky, ultra competitive men (many of them single I might add) could possible put females of coming along to a board game night?
I manage to get my good lady to play a game recently so why couldn't I get some lady folk to attend a game night. I thinks its best to set the bar low and begin small. I have broached the subject with the wife, she didn't laugh at me or raise her eyes to heaven or even shake her head in disdain. So I am taking that as a possible yes or a maybe and am going to press home the opportunity by proposing I organise a game night with some family and friends and include a few of the opposite sex among the invitees.
If you have a suggestion on how to encourage some real live ladies to let their hair down and play some games with the boys let me know. All suggestions greatly accepted.
Stay tuned to find out how my task develops.

Invite couples over for a few drinks and propose a game that involves a lot of interaction. The resistance might be a good choice.
Don't make a big deal out of it and pick a relatively short game. Much better to say "do we have time for another?" Then "Well thank goodness that's over."
Though to be fair I wargame to get away from women.
Thanks Conrad I shall indeed invite a few couples over, ply them with drinks and introduce them to Diplomacy. What can possibly go wrong.
